Why do we offer different licensing options for our photos?
It provides clear communication.
We require licensing agreements before the release of any media captured by Smors Media to ensure that promoters purchasing photography/media packages have the opportunity to receive the exclusive right to use the media captured at their events in their marketing material.
Smors Media retains indefinite copyright ownership of all media captured by Smors Media and any sub-contractor hired under the Smors Media Heading. Licensing for commercial or personal use provides the client with specific permissions granted to use the photo as outlined in the license agreement.
Licences, including length of time the licence is valid for and where media may be used, may vary depending on the individual agreements made between Smors Media and the Promoter.
What is a Commercial Licence?
A commercial licence provides the Promoter with the licence and the rights to use the media purchased for all marketing and selling purposes (including but not limited to magazine ads, merchandise, billboards, signage, digital ads, tv and web commercials, company websites, marketing posters and material, etc.)
Commercial photography licences can range from a standard 1-2 year agreement up to a 5-7 year agreement. Agreements may vary depending on the final agreement made between Smors Media and the Promoter.

What is a Personal Licence?
When a photo is purchase with a personal licence, the photo may only be used for personal purposes by the purchaser - such as personal social media and printing for personal use. Photos purchased with a personal licence may not be used in marketing material or for marketing purposes by the purchaser. The photo may not be sent to be used in marketing material unless that same photo has been also purchased by the promoter with a commercial licence, and the promoter has given permission for that photo to be used.
When a photo is purchased with a personal licence, it is agreed upon at purchase that the purchaser will not use the photo in any way outside of personal use, or they may be subject to additional commercial licensing charges.
Do we provided unedited photos?
We believe that editing is an integral part of providing a professional finished product to the customer. We will never provide, release or preview unedited photos.
Do we offer print options?
Yes! Your athletes packages are for digital copies only, but our store also offers them a convientant location to also purchase physical print copies of their photos.
